Introduction and Background
Maharashtra is one of the largest states of India and has many vast areas like Vidarbha, Khandes, Kokan and Mumbai including Marathwada which has eight districts; Nanded, Parbhani, Osmanabad, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Beed and Aurangabad.
Aurangabad city having historical importance is a touristic spot. In the past the city has always been the center of Auliya, saints, well known popular poets, men of letters and authors.
Aurangabad had been the residence of Aurangzeb Alamgir (RA). His burial chamber is also located in nearby town Khuldabad. Aurangabad and surrounding areas were part of the Hyderabad state Deccan during British rule. Till the Nizam government was in power Masjids and madrasahs were under government supervision. After the fall of Hyderabad their situation became like that of other parts of India, so capable insightful and the most influential scholars – Ulema established the chain of madrasas here also. As there was no madrassa in Marathwada area on the world-famous pattern of the hallowed seminary Darul Uloom Deoband. Darul Uloom’s curriculum and education system are of versatile nature with their unique qualities and characteristics. When native of Aurangabad, Hafiz Qur’an Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Abdul Waheed Khan alias Kaka who had received the Naqshbandi Chain of spiritual transmission, came back to the city after conferring graduation degree in form of Sand -e- Fazilat from Darul Uloom Deoband, it came to his mind to set an institution up to the level as that of DarulUloom Deoband in Aurangabad or nearby area. So he consulted with the then young well known religious intellectual lodestar of Marathwada Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Mu’izzuddin Qasemi who received the certificates of excellence, specialization in letters and theology and deliverance of advisory opinions from Darul Uloom Deoband and had consecutive 10-year experience of teaching from elementary grades to Bukhari shareef in the oldest seminary of Marathwada “ Jamea Islamiyah Kashif-ul-uloom’’ Aurangabad, a largest and oldest branch of Nadwa tul ulema , Lucknow along with the different prominent personalities and true sympathizers at different times. And there came auspicious hour when a committee was formed with mutual consultation comprising the following 6 founders:
Hazrat Maulana Sayyed Dawood Qasmi |
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Riazuddin Farooqi Nadvi |
Hazrat Maulana Abdul Waheed Khan Qasmi |
Hazrat Maulana Moeenuddin Qasmi |
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Abdullah Qasmi |
Mufti Mohammad Muizzuddin Qasmi |
These six learned scholars established an institution named Darul Uloom Aurangabad in the Yek-khana Masjid, City Chowk, in 1983 under the chairmanship of Hazrat Maulana Sayyed Dawood Qasmi. Services of Maulana Mansab Khan were borrowed as seminary’s first teacher. In 1996, Mufti Muhammad Muizzuddin Qasmi was appointed rector of the seminary and Maulana mansab Khan was appointed as Principal. Madrasah continued in this manner. After that, founders formed the seven-member Executive Body as follows:
Hazrat Maulana Moeenuddin Qasmi Nanded |
Hazrat Maulana Abdul Waheed Khan Qasmi Aurangabad |
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Abdullah Qasmi Gulbarga |
Mufti Mohammad Muizzuddin Qasmi Aurangabad |
Alhaaj Shaikh Chand Rtd. Tahsildar Aurangabad |
Alhaaj Sayyed Jaafar Aurangabad |
Maulana Moinuddin Qasmi sahib Nanded was selected as President of the Executive Body, Alhaj Syed Jaafar s/o Syed Usman sahib as treasurer, Mufti Muhammad Moizzuddin Qasmi sahib was appointed as Secretary and Maulana Mansab Khan sahib was elected as Principal. The above Executive Body was formally registered with the Charity Commissioner under the name of Anjuman -e- Khadim-ul-Uloom in October 1994, Since the seminary was established to meet the religious needs. At the same time, with the devotion of founders, facilitating sincere services of the truehearted honest teachers, by the grace of Allah Subhanatala, in an extremely short period of time, Arabic learning grades were established here. So, the institute became centre of attraction for the students of the region and outside. Within few years, the madrasa became very famous and well-known institution not only in the city but also in the whole region. For many years, the education of theology from Arabic elementary to fifth grade was inculcated here. For further education students used to proceed to Darul Uloom Deoband and as per their ability, they would be easily admitted to the desired grade there.
That time institute was passing through difficult time; with small building of the Yek-khana Masjid, gradually growing exigencies due to multiplying number of students. Caretakers of the institute were in search of spacious land. Efforts were on for acquiring lands in and around the city, but to no avail. Meanwhile well-known personality of the city Al-haaj Mujeeb Aalam shah sahib donated two acres out of his 32 acre land block situated at Shakarbavdi, Daulatabad to the Jamea Islamiyah Darul Uloom Aurangabad. He had bought this land intending Isaal-e-sawab for his parents. After executing deed of conveyance in January 2000, the construction work started. And with the grace of Allah Subhanatala, influential elites who took part in this basic construction work in every way, some of them took part in the construction of the rooms as isal-e-sawab by their own deceased relatives. Their name plaques were fixed to the walls of related rooms in commemoration of the persons to inspire others. Initially there were many difficulties in construction, but the promise of Allah Subhanatala the Exalted is “بعد كلّ عسر يسرا ” i.e. with every difficulty comes ease. showed that day, in 2003, 18 rooms were ready. With the consultation of Executive Body, the first batch of 25 students shifted from Masjid Yek-khana, City Chowk to the new building at Daulatabad on 24th January 2004 corresponding to 1st of Zihijja 1424 AH.
Since then, the wide plain has changed into a population. Classes started and some teachers were posted. The first administrator was Maulavi Jibreel (2004 to 2005). After that Maulana Abdul Qayyum (2005 to 2007) took the charge of the newly built seminary followed by Hafiz Muhammad Shaker who is performing till now this great responsibility. So in the new building of Daulatabad, the Jameah Islamiya Darul Uloom Aurangabad is conducting Arabic classes from primary divinity to Hifz, Alemiyat and Fazilat final year Holy Hadith course (Daura), as well as the providing vocational and industrial training. In future, the specialisation courses in Ifta and other faculties are under constant consideration of the Jameah. Besides this there are some external projects that will be detailed.

Thanks to Allah Subhanatala this materialist world is not Empty of such people who have spent many decades of their age, still they seek the opportunity to have the knowledge, but in the rush days of the modern life, due to Economic responsibilities and some other commitments they are deprived of fulfilling their strong desire, considering the feelings of such people, we have established a “Special Branch of Alemiyat ” based on key elements of Education. The curriculum is designed to be short and offering some solace for the past. It is a five-year course, out of which first three years covers the basic books and important subjects of the six-year course of the general student Curriculum. Considering the Economic responsibilities of the most of the candidates their classes start soon after the Fajr prayers and continue till 11:00 am. This Academic year (1439AH i.e.2018) first batch of 24 such students completes Fazilat in daura-e-Hadith. In this way, Allah Rabulizzat willing, every year a batch will be honoured with the completion of Fazilat Respectively.
